Camp Denninson
Camp Dennison, established in 1796 by Christian Waldschmidt and a group of German immigrants, was originally called “Germany.” During the Civil War, it was renamed Camp Dennison after Ohio Governor William Dennison, reflecting its new role as a military training ground and later as a hospital camp. Today, the area preserves its rich history through the Waldschmidt House Historical Museum and the Camp Dennison, Ohio Civil War Museum, offering glimpses into its past.
Conveniently located, Camp Dennison is only five minutes away from Milford or Terrace Park and just ten minutes east of Montgomery and Madeira, making it an accessible destination for history enthusiasts and visitors from neighboring areas.
