Amelia

Amelia, a community with deep historical roots, was settled in 1809, with log cabins as its first homes. By 1826, the establishment of a sawmill marked the beginning of its industrial growth, followed by the construction of several other mills. Originally known as Milltown, later renamed Milton, the village became Amelia in 1836 to honor Amelia Bowdoin, a beloved tollgate operator on the Ohio Turnpike.

Once a haven for farmers and artisans, Amelia’s natural charm and wooded landscapes are attracting renewed interest. Its 4,800 residents enjoy a community that blends history with modern growth. The area is home to several major businesses, including L3, TQL, American Modern Insurance, and Milacron Plastics. In 2019, a significant change occurred when Amelia residents voted to dissolve its village status, incorporating it into Pierce and Batavia Townships.

Located just 30 minutes from downtown Cincinnati, Amelia has transformed into a vibrant suburb. Its scenic mix of rolling woodlands, farmland, historic homes, and elegant new colonials and ranch-style residences offers a unique blend of old-world charm and modern appeal. Despite its growth, Amelia remains dedicated to preserving its rural heritage and fostering a strong sense of community spirit, making it a delightful place to live with a bright future ahead.
