OTR retailer opening 2nd shop in Hyde Park
There is a new restaurant in town… East Hyde Park is getting a unique mixture of smoked meats and bourbon- sounds like a good combo!

Bourbon is hot right now. So are barbecue and smoked meats. So it stands to reason that it would be entrepreneurial to combine the two in the form of a restaurant. That’s exactly what one Cincinnati restaurateur is doing.
Alex Ng hopes to open Bourbon Smokehouse in the former Saigon Cafe space at 3672 Erie Ave. by late September. Ng also owned Saigon Cafe, which he closed and moved to 200 W. McMillan St. in Clifton Heights to make way for Bourbon Smokehouse.”Bourbon is big in Cincinnati, and barbecue is also very big,” Ng told me. “We’re going to feature bourbon and superior bourbon cocktails.”
Ng closed Saigon Cafe in May and is currently remodeling the space to make way for Bourbon Smokehouse. Saigon Cafe is now Sushi Lounge.
Bourbon Smokehouse will serve high-end barbecue and smoked meats. The menu will include smoked ribs, smoked New York strip steak, smoked salmon, smoked wings, smoked vegetables and macaroni and cheese.
Bourbon Smokehouse will have an outdoor patio that will seat about 100. The interior space is about 3,000 square feet. The remodel of the former Saigon Cafe space is bringing back exposed brick and the tin ceiling. Ng sourced reclaimed bar wood from Tennessee for furniture and fixtures.
“It’s one of the best restaurants I’ve put together with my company,” Ng said. “It’s very beautiful.”
Ng ultimately hopes to franchise the Bourbon Smokehouse and plans to open a second one himself in Oakley within six months.
